HD 4G Construction Site Camera for Time Lapse and MonitoringThe iTime Lapse Systems Team
The good news it, is not as difficult as you think to set up a 4G Time Lapsing System. There are many Time Lapse providers that can provide a 4G IP based Construction Camera, as a Turnkey Solution. These type of systems can be quite expensive. iVideo Systems provides you with the essential hardware, that is used in the same Turnkey Solutions, but at a much lower price.
We are not dismissing turnkey solutions. When buying these more expensive and alternative 4G Construction site camera systems, there is added value and some degree of saved time. For example, the Turnkey provider may offer installation, where they would visit the site and install the camera. Certainly, this will save you time but this will not save you money. The hardware we provide, make up the kit list essentials to building the same powerful HD solution.

HD & 4G Construction Site Camera
We supply the system to installers and even business owners who work in production and photography. People who don’t have the IT and Network experience, they are not a security or CCTV installer, but they manage the installation and config without any trouble.
In this post we are going to have a look at the 4G installation element. At any time, hit the contact us page and ask anything you need to.
This also comes complete with a cable managed wall arm bracket and fixings. You woul drill this to a flat surface, like a wall. Alternatively you could buy a Pole Mount Adaptor for the 4G Construction Site Camera.
4G Ready Time Lapse Camera
The 4G element of the Time Lapse Camera is a “ System Add-on”. From an installation point of view, this doesn’t take much time to set up. From an expenditure point of view, this can certainly save you some money, compared to an integrated 4G router.
The first question to ask, is why does the 4G element (Router) need to be integrated into the same housing, that the IP Time Lapse Camera is in ? Below, we are going to look at the set up of an Integrated Turnkey systems and our option of adding the 4G router.
Expensive Turney Solution
This system on the left is a fantastic solution. It certainly looks the business, this is what we refer to as a turnkey solution. The 4G router is pre installed within the box, the HD IP Time Lapse Camera is also mounted to the box. The antennas are screwed into the box and a few other pre built things are going on. This will save you some time on site, but this type of Time Lapse System costs around £4,000.
This all in one Time Lapse Camera, would still require a degree of installation. You would need to position and fix the all in one enclosure. You would still need to focus the lens and find a Fixed SIM card deal.
If we look at other ways to house the 4G router, like the systems we provide, this can certainly save you some time and money. All the products and components are the same. The quality is the same, we just give you the system parts and the hardware required. We also give you more flexibility and control, every construction site application is different.
The iVideo 4G Time Lapse IP Camera
The main difference with our 4G Construction Site Camera, is the positioning of the 4G Router. We do not integrate and fix ours to a box. This is not a bad thing, first of all you are going to be paying for that integration. As mentioned above, some of the other systems range from £3000 – £5000.
Let’s go over how ours installs:
The HD Time Lapse Camera is pre built into an IP68 outdoor ready housing unit. Complete with a wall bracket, our camera is ready to mount to a wall or flat surface. Alternatively a Pole Mount Adapter Kit is available.
This is the difference: We supply the 4G router as a System Accessory. Instead of it being installed within a cabinet or the camera housing, we give you the freedom and flexibility to install it where you want.
Look at it like this: If you was installing this camera at your home, you wouldn’t put your home SKY router next to the camera outside. The Router/Switch would stay indoors and you would run an Ethernet cable to the construction site camera.
As the image above shows, you could house the 4G router in a site cabin or security office. With today’s technologies, construction sites nowadays have a communications hub or cabinet, this could be used for housing the 4G router. We also provide an external pole mount box, you can use to house the Time Lapse Camera in.
**You can run, as standard over 300 feet from the Router to the Camera. However, with a POE & LAN Extender you could run up to 1KM.
Its always best to get the 4G Construction Site camera and Router delivered to your office first. This way you can do a test set up and configuration. This is great with all 4G applications, as you can then take it to site and the system is already set up.
Once connected to the Internet, you can then view your job-site remotely. This is one of the main benefits with our system, the ability to watch the construction from a remote location. Just a few final config steps are required. You would need to set up schedule, this would be the number of hours per day, you want the camera operational. Next, set up the reassurance, how often you would like the Camera to capture a HD Image. The most popular setting, is every ten minutes.
For calculation on bandwidth and sample images. See this page here.
Please note: With a 4G set up, you will need a fixed SIM card, a standard one (like you have in your phone) will not work.
